WELCOME TO THE PORT WILLIAM WEBSITE
Why do we need a Community council?
The Community Council is a group of people from the Parish who volunteer their time to help resolve minor day to day issues in the villages of Port William, Mochrum, Monreith and Elrig.
Their main remit is to liaise between Dumfries and Galloway Council and the local community. If a member of the community approaches the Port William Community Council with a problem, they will endeavour to resolve the issue by dealing with it themselves, or they will contact D&G Council, or the relevant agency.
A member of the community may ask the Community Council to liaise with D&G Council on their behalf. The issues that may arise are street lighting, damaged pavements, blocked highway drainage, missing or damaged signage, littering, or speeding.
They lobby Ward Councillors on behalf of you, the community, and they receive regular police reports of any issues locally.
If you do have a problem, we will do our best to help. Please contact us by attending a meeting, speak to a Community Councillor, or contact the Secretary. Contact link is on the menu at the top of this page.
